06. What if I was injured in a road accident?

If your accident was because of another driver's negligent driving, you could claim compensation through the courts. Even if the other driver is not insured, this could be worth doing whether or not you think they have enough money to pay you compensation. The Motor Insurers' Bureau may help you with a personal injury claim if the other driver:

  • didn't have insurance; or
  • cannot be found (for example, if you were injured in a hit-and-run accident).

See 'Further Help' for how to contact the Motor Insurers' Bureau.
